Scott Cervine is a film director, screenwriter, editor and creator with an unusually varied career. His work often meets the question of what we leave to the next generations, and how a legacy and its values are passed on.
Before he turned fully to film, he travelled as a comedian and magician through many countries and performed alongside personalities such as Jim Carrey, Dennis Miller and Jay Leno. That experience with magic, storytelling and a live audience later became an important part of his film style.
As a creator, Scott Cervine has contributed to a number of film projects. He wrote, directed and played the lead in two feature films, Never Alone and Escape from Orion, which won the audience award at the Digital Maverick Film Festival. Over his career he has worked as a director and editor on nearly twenty films and collaborated with many creators on projects recognised at film festivals.
His directing draws not only on working with the image, but also on an editor’s precision and an ability to bring lightness, emotion and clarity to serious subjects. The short film Out of Proportion won the top prize at the Beverly Hills Short Film Festival and was distributed worldwide.
Film critic Robert Koehler of the Los Angeles Times called Scott Cervine an “irresistible force”. In recent years he directed the feature documentary The Shadow Effect, shown on the Oprah Winfrey Network, and People v. the State of Illusion, which was also released in cinemas through Samuel Goldwyn.
Scott Cervine also holds the rights to a film adaptation of the iconic book Think and Grow Rich, one of the most widely read books on personal development and success. Alongside that he is preparing Moms Rising, which captures the stories of mothers whose extraordinary strength and determination have shaped the world around them.
