Alessandro Pasquale took over the leadership of Mattoni 1873, then the largest mineral-water producer in the Czech Republic, from his father in 2007. He represents the second generation continuing the legacy of the company’s original founder, Heinrich Mattoni, dating from 1873.
Under his leadership the company became the leader in the Central European region, expanded through acquisitions of subsidiaries in Austria, Hungary, Serbia and Bulgaria, and entered a number of export markets. That growth also included the integration of PepsiCo production and distribution.
Today Mattoni 1873 operates 11 plants in 8 countries of Central and Southern Europe, producing local mineral and spring waters as well as internationally popular brands.
A long-term priority for Mr Pasquale is sustainability, not only within his own company but across the European beverage industry. He promotes the principles of the circular economy both nationally and within the European Union, including in his role as President of NMWE, the Natural Mineral Waters Europe association.
